Qvinctus, Vocal Quintet

5 Guys - Perfect Harmony.

In their fifth year, Qvinctus (pronounced Kwin-toos) is a male vocal quintet comprised of five professional musicians from Northern Delaware. Qvinctus has enjoyed an active performance schedule including concerts throughout the middle states region. Qvinctus performs a wide variety of repertoire from the Renaissance to contemporary, jazz and popular selections.

Countertenor Clint Williams serves as Chair of the Performing Arts Department at Sanford School. Past- President and current board member for the Delaware chapter of the American Choral Directors Association, Clint is a graduate of the University of Central Oklahoma, where he received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in music. He has also completed post-graduate studies in opera performance at Temple University, where he was a voice instructor in the Music Preparatory Division. Clint also currently serves as the President of the Delaware Music Educators Association, and is on the Delaware Senior All- State Chorus Committee and the Delaware Symphony Orchestra Education Committee. Before teaching, he performed professionally in opera and oratorio. Among his honors are second place in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions and being named a finalist in the Orpheus National Vocal Competition. Clint has extensive opera experience, including Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas, among others. Countertenor concert work includes many works by Handel, Bernstein, Haydn, Vivaldi, Stravinsky, and Bach. Currently, Clint enjoys directing musical theatre both at Sanford School and other area theatres. Last year, he made his ballet conducting debut with the original ballet Irene with First State Ballet and made his debut with Delaware Symphony Orchestra singing the Swan in Orff’s Carmina Burana, both at the Grand Opera House. He looks forward to music directing and conducting Shrek this summer at Longwood Gardens with The Brandywiners.

Bass and sometimes Countertenor, David Schueck II, is a graduate of West Chester University where he studied with Alan Wagner, Jane Shepherd, and Lois Williams. He also studied abroad for semesters at Oxford University in England as well as at the University of Salzburg in Austria. He has sung throughout the northeast for over 20 years, including American and European tours with various choirs. In addition to singing with groups such as Chorale Delaware, Delaware Choral Arts, Christ Church Christiana Hundred Choir, CoroAllegro, MasterSingers of Wilmington, and Opera Delaware, he enjoys teaching voice and piano and operates an interior design business that has been featured in Delaware Today Magazine.

An experienced choral tenor, Stephen Ferrara has performed with various ensembles and is especially fortunate to have toured many countries as a vocalist. He spent much of his childhood singing and fondly looks back on his “red-blazer sporting” days with the Philadelphia Boys Choir. With the boys choir, he was mentored by Dr. Robert Hamilton and toured from 1999-2002. Stephen studied voice with soprano Marian Stieber and tenor Jon Garrison at Rowan University, where he also had the privilege of performing with the Concert Choir under the direction of Z. Randall Stroope. With the Concert Choir, he also had the opportunity to sing under the batons of Morten Lauridsen and the late Sir David Willcocks. At Rowan, he was the recipient of first place honors at the 2010 New Jersey NATS Festival of Singing, and graduated summa cum laude with an arts degree in vocal music. More recently, Stephen has been a member of the singing staff at the historic Victor Cafe in South Philadelphia, and serves on the board of the Delaware chamber choir Vox Populi. He sings regularly in Philadelphia at the Catholic Church of St. Francis Xavier, the Oratory, and is a choral scholar with The Cathedral Choir School of Delaware.

Tenor David Lockart served as the Supervisor of Music for a large school district in New Jersey where in addition to administrative duties, he taught choral music, AP Music Theory, and voice, and was the musical director of over 35 musical theater productions. A graduate of Westminster Choir College (BA - Music Education) and the University of Illinois (MM - Choral Conducting), David has conducted school and community choirs throughout the northeast and on tours throughout Europe and Canada. Currently, David is the interim music director at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, and he sings with the Christ Church Christiana Hundred Choir, including being a soloist for in the Bach St. Matthew Passion and Handel’s Messiah. He has been a soloist in works by Handel, Mozart and Brahms in concerts with UD’s Schola Cantorum and the Delaware Valley Chorale. David is an adjunct with the University of Delaware supervising student teaching candidates. He is a consultant with the College Board teaching AP Music Theory Institutes throughout the country, and is the author of the “The Teachers Guide for AP Music Theory.” David is Past-president of the Delaware chapter of the American Choral Directors Association, is the conference chair for the Eastern Division of ACDA, and is also active at the National level. David is a choral adjudicator for Festivals of Music/Music in the Parks and his choral compositions have been performed throughout the United States and Europe.

Rob Kennan is active as a pianist and organist, director, hornist, composer/arranger, singer, and private music instructor in the northern Delaware area. He currently works with the University of Delaware, West Chester University, Brandywine School District, Delaware ChoraleArts, Qvinctus, and CoroAllegro, having previously served Wilmington Children’s Chorus and Opus One. Rob has played horn locally with the Wilmington Community Orchestra, Brandywine Pops Orchestra, and Diamond State Concert Band, previously playing with a number of professional organizations such as the Dallas Brass. He is the Director of Music and Organist at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Wilmington, where he directs children, youth and adult choirs, as well as hand bell choirs, orchestra, and worship band. Rob is the Delaware Director of the Joyful Noise Chorus for adults with disabilities. He holds his bachelor’s degree from Shenandoah University and a master’s degree from the University of North Texas.
