Amoroso Da Capo

Amoroso da Capo (father, son duo) has been performing together for over 45 years in all kinds of
venues... everything from churches to the Academy of Music in Philadelphia. Their repertoire includes
Sacred/worship music, classical music, as well as disco and pop music. Their intent is to give their
testimony and speak to their relationship with God. Additionally, they want to share how God has
shaped their musical relationship as well as the one they have with one another while sharing their
musical gifts with audiences. Concert Bulletin

Violinist Richard Amoroso joined The Philadelphia Orchestra in 1998. Born in 1970 to a musical family,
he is well-known for his involvement in the Philadelphia musical community as a performer and teacher.
Richard is former pupil of past Philadelphia Orchestra concertmasters, Norman Carol and William de
Pasquale. In addition, Mr. Amoroso studied with
other prominent Concertmasters, Rafael Druian and Herbert Greenberg.
Past engagements include solos at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall, the Philly Pops Orchestra, Helena
Symphony and other local orchestras in the Greater Philadelphia community. In addition, he is also a
frequent participant in the Philadelphia Orchestra’s chamber music series and Family Concerts. Mr.

Amoroso has also performed in chamber ensembles all over the world, including concerts in Buenos
Aires, Macau and Lyon, France.
Mr. Amoroso's relationship with The Philadelphia Orchestra began at the age of 14 when, as winner of
the orchestra’s student concerto competition, he performed as soloist with the Orchestra at the famed
Academy of Music. After studying at the Settlement School of Music, Mr. Amoroso later earned his
Bachelor's degree from Dickinson College, graduating Magna Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa.

Richard performs on a violin made by Nicolai Gagliano in 1765. He now resides in Melbourne, FL with his
wife Jessica and daughters. Given his B.S. degree in Economics, Richard still enjoys learning about
different markets including real estate.

Richard Amoroso Sr. has a Bachelor’s Degree in Music and a Master's Degree in Performance. Before
entering college, he joined the Air Force and became a member and solo cellist of the Air Force Band
performing frequently throughout the United States.
As a freelancer, Richard has performed with the likes of Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Junior, and toured
with Burt Bacharach and Lou Rawls. In the 70s, Mr. Amoroso recorded with the Salsoul Orchestra and
other prominent disco artists such as Quincy Jones, MFSB and Vince Montana.
As a chamber music artist, Mr. Amoroso has appeared with the Concerto Soloists of Philadelphia and
completed several tours with them along the U.S. East Coast. He has given countless solo recitals in the
Philadelphia area, including recitals at the Philadelphia Musical Academy, Dickinson College, Lafayette
College, and Eastern University. Many of his solo performances were often broadcasted live on the
former WFLN and WRTI radio stations, including live appearances on syndicated television stations.
In 1989, he joined forces with his son, Richard Jr, a violinist with the Philadelphia Orchestra to perform
as guest soloists with Peter Nero and the Philly Pops at the Academy of Music in Philadelphia. Since
then, they have teamed up to perform numerous chamber music concerts in churches, colleges and
universities and to this day, they continue to delight those same audiences with their talents and charm.
Mr. Amoroso has also substituted with the Philadelphia Orchestra and was an adjunct professor of
music at Eastern University. Additionally, he and his son along with two other members of the
Philadelphia Orchestra, has performed throughout the east coast of the U.S. as the Amoroso String
Quartet.
