Pastor of Student Ministry

The Pastor of Student Ministry shapes the outreach and discipleship ministries for our middle school and high school students. Rooted in the grace of the gospel, we have the joy of sharing that good news with our community. Equipping students for gospel application in their own lives and gospel ministry among our neighbors is the heart of our student ministry. The core of this pastoral position focuses on youth ministry, but depending on the candidate’s experience, the position includes opportunities to expand into ministry to young adults and broader adult discipleship through community groups, Sunday School, and adult discipleship groups.

Faith Presbyterian Church is committed to proclaiming the gospel in suburban Wilmington, Delaware and our surrounding community. We have a gospel-centered approach to preaching in our worship services with an average Sunday attendance of 225 including students and children. Sunday School and Community Groups provide the framework for discipleship and outreach. We have a team-based approach to ministry overseen by the Senior Pastor along with a full-time Director of Children’s Ministries and part-time ministry staff.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Professing Christian called to vocational ministry. Evidence of ongoing spiritual growth.
  • Passion for youth ministry, evangelism, and discipleship.
  • Grace-based ministry emphasis for gospel-focused teaching.
  • Youth ministry experience preferred: strategic planning, ministry coordination, ministry follow-up, and care/discipleship for youth and families.
  • Able to plan, set goals, meet objectives, and equip others for ministry in a team-oriented staff environment.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills with staff, parents, students, and volunteers.
  • Adept at recognizing ministry needs and implementing strategic solutions.
  • Ability to recruit, develop, oversee, and lead volunteers.
  • Seminary graduate preferred. Seminary students considered. Ordained or on path toward PCA ordination. Agreement with the doctrinal standards of the PCA.
  • Desire for a long-term relationship with the church (minimum of 3–5 years).

MINISTRY RESPONSIBILITIES

Student Ministry

  • Overall responsibility for student ministry, grades 7–12.
  • Plan teaching ministry and lead weekly youth group meetings, monthly activities, and annual retreats.
  • Coordinate Youth Sunday School curriculum, teachers, and training.
  • Recruit, train, and oversee adult volunteers.
  • Provide continual emphasis on discipleship of youth in their Christian growth.
  • Pastoral counseling of students and families.
  • Coordinate annual short-term summer missions project.

Adult Discipleship

  • For the right candidate, this role includes expanded opportunities in young adult ministry and broader congregational discipleship in coordination with elders.
  • Fellowship, outreach, and discipleship for young adults.
  • Help coordinate adult training in weekly Sunday School.
  • Coordinate small groups ministry to adults.
  • Strengthen the church in its evangelism through training and community outreach.
  • Opportunities to preach and provide pastoral care in coordination with the Senior Pastor.

COMPENSATION

  • Full-time salary and benefits package commensurate with experience.
  • Includes health insurance, retirement contributions, death & disability, reimbursement of ministerial expenses, and 3+ weeks of vacation.
  • Rent-free use of church manse
