What Is The Gospel?

The word gospel means “good news.”  In Christian terms, it has been simply stated that the gospel is “the life, death and resurrection of Jesus for our salvation.”  In other words, it is the news that God himself, in the person of Jesus Christ, came to earth, lived a perfect life, died a sacrificial death, and rose from the dead to secure eternal life for all who put their faith in him.

It is simple enough for a child to grasp and deep enough to spend a lifetime studying.  Its claims are personal and its promises are staggering.  It is the pathway to forgiveness, the power for holiness, and the only ultimate hope for humanity.
